Your First Visit
You don't need to know what you're doing. That's our job.
Your first visit to State of Being shouldn't feel intimidating.
You don't need to know the difference between regulation and recovery. You don't need to know how long to stay in the cold. And you definitely don't need to arrive with a protocol worked out.
We'll meet you where you are. That promise is central to how State of Being operates.
Before you arrive Book your session through the Momence app and allow enough time to arrive without rushing. Bring: Bathers A towel A drink bottle That's it. If there is anything about your health, medications, pregnancy, injury or current physical condition that may affect your ability to safely participate in heat, cold or other recovery modalities, please let our team know before beginning. When you walk through the door one of our team will welcome you, show you around and explain how the space works. You'll see our Community Hearth & Herbal Tea Bar, change rooms, dry recovery area and wet recovery space. There is no expectation that you'll remember everything. Ask questions. That's what we're here for.
We start with you Before deciding what you should do, we'll consider how you've arrived today and ask a few questions. You might be sore from training. You might have slept badly. You might have spent eight hours thinking, making decisions or looking after other people. You might be feeling great. Your state today helps guide what comes next. Start dry Your recovery experience will generally begin in our dry recovery space. Depending on how you've arrived, this may include compression boots, acupressure mats, sensory pods, PEMF mats, guided breathing or one of our classes. Don't rush through this part to get to the sauna and the pools. Recovery isn't about collecting modalities. We're creating the conditions for your body to respond to what comes next. Move into the wet space From there, we'll guide you into the wet recovery area, which includes our: Cold pool · Warm salt pool · Hot mineral pool · Finnish sauna · Aromatherapy steam room. Your sequence won't necessarily look like the person beside you. And it won't necessarily look the same next time you visit. That's intentional. While you're here, notice We don't want you to spend your whole session wondering whether you're “doing it right.”, Instead, start becoming curious. How does your breathing change? Where are you holding tension? What happens after heat? After cold? When do you feel yourself settle? You don't need to analyse everything. Just start noticing. Over time, those observations help you understand your own state and recognise what helps you recover. State of Being's broader goal is that people leave understanding themselves better, rather than simply having had an experience. Before you leave Take a moment to notice the difference between how you walked in and how you're walking out. That is part of the practice. Have some water. Make a tea. Sit by the Community Hearth if you have time. There is no need to rush out the door. And when you do, take something with you: A little more awareness of your state. A little more understanding of what helps. And, hopefully, a little more capacity for whatever comes next.
One thing to remember You are learning. We'll guide you while you're here, but ultimately we want you to become increasingly capable of recognising what your own body is communicating and knowing how to respond. Because the goal isn't to become good at coming to State of Being. The goal is to become better at recovery.
